How Read Team can help

Tutoring

Certified in the Orton Gillingham-influenced Barton Reading and Spelling System – a great multi-sensory structured literacy tutoring program for children, teenagers or adults who struggle with spelling, reading, and writing  due to dyslexia or a learning disability.

  • private one-on-one tutoring sessions (two hours per week minimum)
  • tutoring group of two students (who are at and progressing at the same speed/level)
  • remote tutoring in Barton (via web-based application)

Consulting/Advocacy

When you first have a suspicion your child has a reading issue, what should you do?

Knowing where to start can be overwhelming – what are your next steps? I’ll help guide you through the process of

  • understanding your options
  • testing in/out of school – (evaluations, IEEs)
  • information and resources
  • document review and timelines
  • communication with schools
  • recommendations for accommodations/504 plans
  • IEP goals, preparation and approach
  • exploring assistive technology

Raising Awareness

“You don’t know what you don’t know.” That’s often how the journey into discovering dyslexia begins. There are a lot of misconceptions out there regarding what dyslexia is and and isn’t, and the only way to combat those popular myths is through education and awareness.

  • speaking to parent/school groups
  • community events
